We removed the existing house and built this beautiful new home for our clients. Jackie Sue was the architect for the project and knew that her clients needed a building contractor that was able to construct their home to the high standard they expected. Jackie and I enjoyed working with the clients, with all of us appreciating that the standard of finish, as always, was important.

The central block wall, with ground concrete floors, light coloured gib walls, with a touch of timber on the internal walls and ceiling have made this a stunning home.

The old house was removed from this site so we could build this award winning home. McKinney + Windeatt Architects carried out an amazing job to fit all of our clients’ needs into the house, using every available space to achieve this. Working with our clients, and the architects, made this a very rewarding experience.

The strong box look from the road sets this house apart with the random sized cedar weatherboards, and the pop up roof of the lounge is a real feature. The mid concrete floor has in slab water heating, so even though there is not a lot of north facing windows this is a really warm home.

Our high quality construction has been acknowledged by many and we are very proud to have been involved on this project.

The project presented some complexities in terms of the narrow site, excavation and critical set outs required by the architectural design. With our ongoing working relationship with Rosalie Stanley and the team from Salmond Reed Architects we carried out extensive alterations to this beautiful and well-appointed historical home. Without losing her yester year charm, we were able to bring the house up to a modern functional family home.

This project was special as we had available some original photos of the house, and we were able to undo questionable alteration work that had been carried out over the years.

We were fortunate to work with clients that saw the value in restoring their home to original where practical, while modernising rooms such as the kitchen and bathroom, to have all the details a well-appointed home should have.

Special features are the main stairwell which we re-crafted; a great functional modern kitchen and laundry; smart detailing; and generally a great finish we can be proud of.

"This company did major renovations on our large, two story heritage home from Oct 2013 to July 2014. They were always efficient and friendly, with excellent communication between us and all their staff. All staff were courteous and easy to ‘live with’. The boss and chief builder worked well with our architects and us to fulfill our vision for the house. Weekly meetings for this purpose were very useful.

They started on time for the project overall and were there everyday until it was finished. They started and finished on time everyday, with no mucking around or downtime. Much of this was due to excellent project managing, with planning ahead for such things as: subcontractors, dump bins, hardware and outsourcing of materials. Necessary alterations to plans were well explained and we were given options and relative costs; and whatever our decision was, was implemented.

The head builder that worked on our project was excellent and very experienced. He had amazing skill and competence and displayed wonderful craftsmanship, particularly with tricky or unique heritage features. He also foresaw possible issues and I’m sure prevented many possible mistakes and misinterpretations. I would highly recommend this company."

This was a major make over for the existing property, taking this very tired house and creating a stunning home on the water’s edge. Geoff Richards Architects contemporary design transformed this home. The top deck cleverly sits like it is suspended over the water, and the city views are amazing throughout.

Part of this project involved excavating under the existing house to create a fantastic main bedroom and bathroom.

We built this very functional new home designed by Ken Crossan, from Crossan Clarke Carnachan Architects, an architectural practice whose designs are cutting edge and inspirational. This home has polyurethaned Strandboard floors and ply ceilings upstairs. Built for a large family, it is on top of a steep slope which needed a high amount of extra foundation work.

Teaming up with inspirational architect, Neil Simmons, this new home was built on the beach front.  It has character plus, with its’ brick walls, quirky rooms and unusual detailing everywhere. This project really tested our ability to think outside the square, with Neil always pushing the boundaries of design.

We have been fortunate to work with our client on this amazing home. It started out as the original farm house for the area. Over the years we have added numerous extensions, along with major alterations, and it now really feels like the manor house. It is built to the highest standard of quality, being tasteful in design and finishes. A truly outstanding project to work on.

We carried out a major renovation and an extension on this house, working with Graham Pitts Architect. We had great clients, who wanted a well executed, well constructed, high quality finish with a friendly team to work together. This turned out to be a very rewarding project in that Graham is an outstanding architect, and really enjoyable to work with.

Renovation work always throws up issues you have to work through, and as a team we worked amazingly well together. This great older family home has now kept the old appearance but increased in size while gaining all the high end modern conveniences.

Keith Dumper a building contractor leading a company of very fine craftsmen and coordinating equally fine sub trades. Since our introduction over 14 years ago Keith and his team have carried out a number of residential projects for my clients both on a tender basis and on a cost plus contracts. Each project was demanding and required high skill levels and quality management. In every case my clients and I have been delighted with the outcome and the time within which the project was completed. Commonly heard criticisms of contractors such as “looking for extras” “ charging excessively for variations” & “dragging out the job” cannot be directed to Keith whose integrity has at all times been beyond question.  As always I am reluctant to commend Keith to others because I would prefer him to be available whenever I have a suitable project. However as much of my work is in other parts of the country I have no hesitation in recommending Keith, KD Construction & those suppliers & sub trades he uses for any residential project where quality is important and appreciated.

We turned this old commercial premises into a very tasteful large inner city home, working with architect Nic Stevens. Our clients were thrilled to achieve a very private oasis in the city.
